KUWAIT CITY — The Amiri Diwan of Kuwait has announced that the funeral of the late Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will be limited to family members and relatives.
The Minister of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah conveyed this decision on Saturday, acknowledging the widespread expressions of grief from citizens and expatriates.
In a statement, the minister detailed that prayers for the late Emir will be conducted at the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, followed by the funeral later in the morning.
The new Emir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, along with the Al-Sabah Family, will receive condolences at the Diwan of the Al-Sabah Family at Bayan Palace on Monday morning, and on Tuesday morning and afternoon.
Additionally, the Kuwait Municipality announced that flags across the country would be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect for the late Emir.
Mohammad Al-Mutairi, the municipality's spokesman, said that all ministries, state agencies, and main roads would lower their flags.
Municipal teams are prepared to oversee these arrangements throughout the mourning period.
