An official Moroccan source revealed that rescue workers face great difficulties and obstacles due to the difficult terrain and the danger of soil erosion during attempts to rescue the child Rayan, who has been stuck for days in a deep well.
The source stressed in a statement to the local newspaper, “Hespress” today, Saturday, that “rescuers face the risk of fainting due to poor oxygen inside the hole that was made at a depth of more than 30 meters.”
The manual digging work is continuing to save the 5-year-old child, Rayan, who fell into a well in the village of Igran in the Tamarout commune in the Chefchaouen province, as the operation entered its final stage.
A member of the tracking committee, Save the Child Rayan, updated in the prefecture of Chefchaouen province, Abdel Hadi Al-Thamrani, said that the drilling process continues in the presence of an engineer and topographical technicians until reaching the child Rayan, noting that “the workers succeeded in digging a horizontal gap between the hole and the well to retrieve the child Rayan.”
He said, “There is hope that the child Ryan will come out alive,” stressing that “the preparation of medical teams, ambulances and a helicopter are all indications that Ryan is still alive, and that we seek to get him out alive.”
He explained that estimates of the end of manual digging are not available at the current stage due to the difficult terrain and the danger of soil deviation.
Efforts to rescue the child Rayan have continued in full swing and without stopping, since Wednesday morning, as dozens of civil protection members, the local authority, the royal gendarmerie and the auxiliary forces are working, under the supervision of the regional authorities, supported by heavy excavation mechanisms.
