The Saudi Shura Council approved, by majority, the draft amendment to the flag, emblem and national anthem system, submitted to the Council in accordance with Article 23 of its system by member Saad bin Salib Al-Otaibi.

According to the Saudi newspaper, Sabq, the idea came to amend the science system, which was issued nearly 50 years ago. To keep pace with the great movement that the Kingdom has witnessed in recent years in reviewing and developing many regulations and legislative texts that support the goals and initiatives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The newspaper added that there was a need to fill the legislative void, regarding the lack of a system that defines the state anthem, and separates the provisions related to it; As an important requirement stipulated by the Basic Law of Governance in Article 4 thereof, as well as the necessity of setting the limits and controls for the use of the state emblem, and determining the penalties to be applied in case of violation.
