British police on Saturday arrested an armed young man who infiltrated the Windsor Castle area of the British royal family.
The Times-Walley police said they had arrested a 19-year-old man from Southampton who was in possession of an “assault weapon”, indicating that he was practically spotted seconds after breaching Windsor Castle at 08:30 GMT.
Times Valley Police Chief Rebecca Mears said: “The man has been arrested on suspicion of hacking or trespassing on a protected site and possessing an offensive weapon. He remains in custody at this time.”
She indicated that the gunman did not enter any buildings and members of the royal family were informed of the incident, stressing: “We do not believe that there is a greater danger to the public.”
