Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed described the bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul today as “historic”, and stressed that the relations between the two countries are “rooted” in their strength.
He wrote on Twitter: “My delegation met with Turkish President Erdogan today in a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Turkish-African Summit.”
He added, “The historical relations between our two countries have always been rooted in mutual respect, and our partnership will continue on the basis of constructive engagement.”
For its part, the Turkish presidential office said, “President Erdogan received Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and a number of leaders and leaders of African countries on the sidelines of the third Turkish-African Partnership Summit in Istanbul.”
She pointed out that “the work of the third summit of the (Turkish-African) partnership was launched under the slogan (Strengthening Partnership for Development and Common Prosperity).”
