Russian Foreign Ministry: British court decision to extradite Assange is shameful

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the London High Court’s decision allowing the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the United States as shameful.

Zakharova wrote on her Telegram page: “This shameful verdict in the framework of a political case against a journalist and a public figure is another manifestation of the cannibal worldview of the Anglo-Saxon world. The West “deservedly” celebrated the International Day of Human Rights and the conclusion of the “Democracy Summit”.

For his part, Christophe Deloire, Secretary-General of the international organization “Reporters Without Borders”, announced that his organization condemns the decision of the London court. “We condemn today’s decision by the High Court of London to allow the extradition of Julian Assange to the United States, which will prove to be historic for all the wrong reasons,” Deloire wrote on his Twitter page.

“We are convinced that Julian Assange has fallen victim to his contributions to the press,” he added.

The London High Court earlier today upheld a US appeal against the extradition ban on WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
