On Tuesday, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed described the advance of the Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front and the Oromo Army towards areas near the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, and the threatening to march towards the capital as an “ordeal”, according to the Russian “Sputnik” agency.

And he sent a message to the citizens of his country, saying that Ethiopian citizens should cooperate with the security authorities during the state of emergency that he imposed earlier on Tuesday.

“I call on citizens to do their part by complying with the emergency declaration directives, and that citizens should cooperate with law enforcement authorities to carry out their duties efficiently and provide necessary assistance,” the Ethiopian Prime Minister wrote on Twitter.

He continued his tweets, saying: “Citizens must adapt to the ordeal so that problems are resolved quickly and a return to normal life is done,” noting that “a state of emergency has been declared to shorten the period of the ordeal and provide time for resolution.”

Ethiopia had declared a state of emergency and called on citizens to take up arms after the alliance of the Tigrayan forces and the Oromo army and the control of strategic cities near the capital, Addis Ababa.
