Al-Ahly team won the Arab Basketball Championship for the first time in its history after beating Kuwait Al-Kuwait, 78-66, in the final match that was held between them this evening at the Burj Al Arab Hall in Alexandria.
This title is the first for Al-Ahly team in the history of its participation in the Arab Championship, as it has previously qualified for the final 3 times before, but it did not win the title, and the last final it reached was in 2000.
Although Kuwait Al-Kuwaiti dominated the match in the first period, winning it 23-20, and then outperforming it in the second period, 36-35.
However, Al-Ahly team under the leadership of the Spanish Augusti succeeded in imposing its control over the third period since its inception, in which the players of the Red Team presented an outstanding offensive and defensive performance, and enthusiastic them in their favor with a score of 36-49.
Al-Ahly players continued their superiority in the fourth period and succeeded in tightening their grip on the match in an impressive manner, amid close supervision of the Kuwaiti professionals, to settle the match in their favor by 12 points.
