A literary symposium that monitors the transformations of the Emirati novel

Sharjah (Union)

The Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department of Culture in Sharjah will organize next Monday (September 13th) a literary symposium entitled “The Emirati Novel from Narrating Water and the Desert to Narrating Humans”, at the Culture Palace in Sharjah, where novelists and academics will lecture.
The symposium will focus on three main axes: the novel and the aesthetics of responding to the variables of reality, the manifestations of experimentation in the contemporary novel, and the Emirati novel now… the biography of man. Abdullah Al Owais, Head of the Department of Culture, said: “The literary scene in the Emirates is constantly growing, so the department organizes specialized literary seminars that are able to read the transformations in the Emirati and Arab novel and story.” Al Owais added: “Since its inception, the literary forums have accompanied the local and Arab narrative movement through a series of monthly, quarterly and annual events, to become an observatory overlooking the narrative and narrative activity.”
The head of the Department of Culture continued: “A number of critics participate in the symposium as a critical interface, and as a way to consolidate the relationship between them, and to answer a common critical question in the structure of the novel and the narrative that transforms in nature in short periods of time.”

The symposium includes three critical sessions, and it begins in the Majlis Hall in the Palace of Culture. The first session is chaired by the first axis, “The Novel Aesthetics of Responding to Reality Variables,” the Emirati writer Ibrahim Mubarak, and the two academics, Dr. Zainab Al-Yassi and Dr. Badia Al Hashemi.
As for the second session, with its second theme, “Representations of Experimentation in the Contemporary Novel”, it will be chaired by Dr. Rehab Al-Kilani, and lectures by the narrator and critic Izzat Omar, and the storyteller Islam Abu Shakir.
Emirati storyteller Mohsen Suleiman will chair the third session in its third axis, entitled “The Emirati Novel Now… The Biography of Man”, with the participation of Fathia Al-Nimr and Sameh Kaush.
It is noteworthy that the narrative seminars are organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Department of Culture in Sharjah as part of its activities that seek to enrich the local cultural scene, and monitor the transformations in the Emirati novel and short story, from their social and historical contexts, to their relationship to the contemporary novel, and to respond to the changes in reality.
