Biden agrees to give the Lebanese army $47 million in aid...

US President Joe Biden has authorized his Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, to give immediate aid to the Lebanese army, worth $47 million.

According to a statement issued by the White House, Blinken has been authorized to withdraw $25 million in goods and services and from the stockpile and resources of any U.S. agency providing immediate assistance to the LAF, as well as withdrawing up to $22 million in defense materials and services for immediate assistance to the LAF.

For some time now, Lebanon has been experiencing a stifling economic crisis that has affected most aspects of life in the country, and has led to a state of popular resentment, especially as it coincides with a severe state of political blockage and societal division.
