SAccording to provincial health minister Christine Elliott, 785 of these new cases are clustered in Toronto, 404 in Peel, 215 in York Region and 121 in Niagara.
Of all the cases, 24,153 are still considered to be active, while the number of healings stands at 225,046, an increase of more than 2,750 in 24 hours.
In long-term care homes, 181 new cases were also identified on Sunday, including 142 among residents.

The province also deplores 50 new deaths related to the virus compared to the previous day, 14 of which occurred in long-term care homes. Just over 5,800 people have now lost their lives to COVID-19 in the province.
As of Sunday, 1,436 patients were hospitalized to treat symptoms of COVID-19, down 65 since Saturday. Of the batch, 392 required intensive care (-3) and 301 were on a ventilator (+2).
Regarding vaccination, 280,573 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have so far been administered in Ontario. This is an increase of 34,427 over the past 24 hours.
