MISS PROVENCE – April Benayoum who represents Provence, has been selected to appear in the top 15 of Miss France 2021.

[Mis à jour le 19 décembre 2020 à 23h05] April Benayoum convinced the jury of Miss France 2021 to let her continue the adventure. Miss Provence was selected among the 15 finalists. The candidate had indeed been preselected without knowing it before the election this Saturday, December 19, 2020. The young woman will be able to move on to the second stage of the competition, in the hope of being then chosen by the public to join the 5 national competition finalists.

Lhe young woman of 21 had a heritage of beauty queen, since her grandmother was also elected Miss Marseille in the 1950s, as she confided to the Figaro. And little anecdote, Miss Provence has already briefly crossed Jean-Pierre Foucaut at the beginning of her life, the presenter of Miss France from Provence having appeared in a clip by her side when she was still a baby.

A business student, April Benayoum already holds a BTS in international business and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in marketing. Ultimately, she aspires to work in the cosmetics field. The new Miss Provence hopes, with her new title, “to defend causes which [lui] take to heart and […]to realize new and beautiful projects ”, as she explained during the regional election which she won.

Among the causes dear to Miss Provence is the environment. April Benayoum explains in her interview with TV Mag that she takes part in collecting litter on the beach every year. “I know that at my level it is not much but this action is very important and symbolic for me. I am convinced that, if each of us makes a few small gestures on a daily basis, it can really have an impact.”

Miss Provence is a beauty contest which aims to elect a candidate for the Miss France contest each year. Several young women from the Provence region are applying in the hope of becoming the ambassador of the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Vaucluse and Bouches-du-Rhône. Since the creation of the national competition, only one Miss Provence has been elected Miss France: it is Sylvie Paréra, initially Miss Marseille, in 1979.

In 2019, Lou Ruat represented Provence at the Miss France competition. The young woman was just 18 years old when she was crowned. True influencer on Instagram, Lou Ruat stood out as the most followed miss on Instagram during the 2020 election. She finished first runner-up of Miss France (Clémence Botino), during the election which took place on December 14, 2019 in Dome of Marseille.

In 2018, Wynona Gueraini was the candidate of Provence for the Miss France 2019 election. Originally, the young woman had finished second runner-up in the regional competition. But Miss Provence had renounced its obligations, just like the first runner-up. A change that has borne fruit, since she was ranked 5th runner-up in the national election.
