Alfredo Hoyos Mazuera, founder of Frisby and pillar of the food industry in Colombia, passed away

At age 74, Alfredo Hoyos Mazuera (founder of Frisby Colombia), died this morning on a farm near Pereira (Risaralda).

Liliana Restrepo, wife of the businessman from Risaralda, confirmed the news and said that Hoyos He died accompanied by his relatives on a family farm.

“With immense regret and with peace of heart we tell you that our dear co-founder, Alfredo Hoyos Mazuera, Don Alfre, is in his process of transcending after an intense fight against an aggressive disease”, Explained Liliana Restrepo.

Hoyos Mazuera was born on May 17, 1946 in Pereira. After an academic stint in the United States, the Colombian businessman returned to give life to six companies that, at the time, they had an important weight in the national food industry.

Among the companies he helped forge were: Impavicol, Procodes, Avícola del Pacífico, Avinco, the Santa Inés and Pimpollo farms and the Loco Pollo restaurant. Its heaviest brand, Frisby, was born in 1977 and celebrates 43 years of presence in the country.

In April 2015, Hoyos Mazuera was decorated as “Exemplary Colombian” for its contribution to the development and growth of national economic activity.
