Revenge porn: a police officer who shot herself in the head died after her ex viralized video and intimate photos

Belén San Román was 25 years old, she was the mother of two young children and a police officer from the Buenos Aires in Bragado. According to her family’s account, the tragedy of Belén had begun when her ex, identified as Tobías Villarruel (25) and a native of Chivilcoy, viralized photos and videos of the police from the Rural Patrol Command.

On November 30, Belén’s comrades from the Bragado Rural Patrol Command found her seriously wounded: she had shot herself in the head with her regulation weapon. In that post, Graciela said that Belén had “two small children who she loves with all her being, as well as her job, proud to belong to the police force.” And followed: “So guilty this scourge, like all those who went viral. The human being is the worst species in this sick world. May their dirty consciences not let them live in peace.

According to the newspaper The Chivilcoy Reason, Villarruel is arrested in Bragado, accused of having assaulted a local bakery with a knife in April 2018 in a case that is being processed at UFI No. 6 of the prosecutor Luis Carcagno, for aggravated robbery.

His arrest occurred in June of that 2018, in a rehabilitation farm of Merlo. It was not his first arrest: in January of that same year he fell for burning containers.

The Mercedes Judicial Department indicated that they are now working on the cause of Belén’s death. They did say that the victim “had not reported” her ex.

Almost a plea

The truth is that the parents of Belén launched a campaign to ask legislators to speed up the treatment of the law against “pornovenganza”.

The project, whose author is the Santiago senator Claudia Ledesma Abdala, has already received half a sanction from the Senate since last July and modifies articles 155 and 169 of the Penal Code: it proposes penalize the dissemination of non-consensual content of nudity, sexual or erotic, even if obtained with the authorization of the victim.

Jorge, Belén’s father, asked the deputy from Entre Ríos Ana Carolina Gaillard (FdT), president of the Criminal Legislation Commission, to “pass this bill”.
