– The most important rally – VG

WANT TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT: The couple Dale and Shawns Brooks have come a long way. Photo: Thomas Nilsson / VG

VALDOSTA, GEORGIA (VG) Dale and Shawn Brooks have been in Indiana for 14 hours to participate in ’s first rally since the election.

Updated less than 10 minutes ago

It’s just past nine in the morning, and it’s several hours until the outgoing president is waiting on stage at the small airport in the town of Valdosta in Georgia. Bruce Springsteen is played over the loudspeaker system and people shout “Stop the Steal”.

This will be Donald Trump’s first – and also perhaps last – election rally since the election earlier in November.

– This is the most important rally, says Dale and is supported by her husband.

– We need to hear from our president, and we need to show him our love, she continues.

Shawn and Dale share the view – with several others that VG talks to this morning – that this year’s presidential election has been subjected to what they call “massive election fraud”, and that Joe Biden has “stolen the election”.

Donald Trump has since the American media nominated Joe Biden as the winner of the presidential election, fought back with lawsuits and undocumented allegations of electoral fraud in crucial states.

But the president and his lawyers have suffered defeat after defeat in the courts.

Trump will visit Georgia Sunday night to show his support for Senator Kelly Loeffler and Senator David Predue in connection with the Georgia Senate election on January 5.

The outcome of the election will determine who will get a majority in the Senate – and there is great excitement about the result.

“Evil tyrants”

But despite Trump’s repeated allegations of electoral fraud, Georgia Republicans will vote in the same election system used during the presidential election – which then secured Biden’s victory in the state by a narrow margin.

Linda McKenney is a secondary school teacher, and teaches her students, among other things, the constitution. She and her son Sheon have taken the trip from Florida, to watch Trump’s speech on Saturday night.

– The Democrats are trying to take power away from us. They are destroying our businesses and our lives – and the corruption is massive, the middle school teacher claims.

During the interview, she makes several undocumented allegations – which VG and most major media around the world consider to be provable errors. She says Democrats want to curtail Americans’ freedom of speech, and she is concerned about freedom to rally despite the corona pandemic – which right now kills one American every 30 seconds.

– The Democrats are evil tyrants. And we will not approve of them stealing this election, she says.

Will continue to fight

Linda says she does not share her political views with her students. She also does not discuss politics with them, because she thinks the management at the school might have had problems with it.

The courts have not found any evidence for the allegation of massive electoral fraud, as the president claims. What do you think about it?

– We will continue to fight, and it is the right people who must look at these issues. The truth will come out.

– As a secondary school teacher, who teaches the constitution, does that mean that you have stopped believing in the system?

– I believe in our constitution. But I also believe that the Democrats are trying to change the way we live. And we must not tolerate that.

LONG DRIVE: Sylvia Long and her neighbor have driven all the way from Missouri. A drive of around 13 hours, she tells VG. Photo: Thomas Nilsson / VG

Want Republicans to vote

None of those VG is talking to outside the airport this morning are from Georgia. Sylvia Long, like the Brooks, has come a long way.

She has been driving for 13 hours from Missouri to be one of the first in line.

– The country will go to hell if Biden takes over. Our country will become socialist, and he will take away our freedom, she claims.

CHECK THE TEMPERATURE: Everyone entering the rally must take a temperature check.

– Trump continues to say that there has been election fraud. At the same time, Republicans need votes in Georgia so that the Senate does not go to the Democrats. So today Trump is likely to ask people from Georgia to vote in a system he believes is rigged. What do you think about it?

– I think they will rig it. They have done nothing to change the system.

– So you think Republicans should not vote?

– Yes, absolutely. The more Republicans who vote, the better. They want us to be at home, but people have to vote in person and not send it in the mail.

NOT FIRST RALLY: Mike Boatman definitely has the biggest Trump flag of them all, and says that through the election campaign he has participated in several rallies. Photo: Thomas Nilsson / VG

Mike Boatman holds the big Trump flag with both hands. He has driven in from Indiana, and admits that this is not his first election meeting he attends for the outgoing president.

He also points out how he thinks Trump has been cheated for the victory, and that he is here today to show his support. When asked what he thinks about the verdicts, he hopes that it will end up in the Supreme Court.

On Thursday, Republicans again tried to get the Supreme Court to block incoming President Joe Biden’s victory in the tipping state of Pennsylvania.

– The courts do not do their job. They have to look at the evidence. “I think we will eventually see that Trump will be announced as the winner of the election,” Boatman told VG. All the time he does not hold on to his big flag.
