iPhones can now make FaceTime video calls in 1080p. Full HD FaceTime apparently from iOS 14.2

FaceTime for old iPhones and iPads too
The use of FaceTime should still be possible on very old hardware, according to Apple, this goes back to the ten-year-old iPhone 4 – this was how FaceTime was introduced. The iPad 2 (2011) is still supported, but there have been reports of problems with video calls to older hardware in recent months.
