‘Juno’ star Elliot Page announces gender transition

Elliot Page, the Canadian actor best known for his roles in the film Juno and more recently the series The Umbrella Academy, announced her gender transition on Tuesday, December 1, on her Instagram page. Elliot, formerly known as Ellen Page, addressed her followers with these words: “Hi friends, I want to share with you the fact that I’m trans, my pronouns are ‘he / they’ and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to write this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel immense gratitude for the amazing people who have supported me throughout this trip. “

In his post, also shared on Twitter, Elliot Page thanks the trans community. “Thank you for your courage, generosity and tireless work to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place, continues the star. I will give you all the support I can and will continue to fight for a more loving and equal society. ”

“To all trans people who face harassment, self-hatred, abuse and threats of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do my best to change this world for the better”, adds Eliott Page.

Elliot Page left his native Canada in 2005 to star in the thriller Hard Candy. Two years later, he illustrated himself in the film Juno by Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody, for which he was nominated for an Oscar. Among her most notable roles are those of Kitty Pryde in the series X-Men, and Ariane in Inception by Christopher Nolan. Last year marked his directorial debut with the documentary There’s Something In The Water, on the environmental racism faced by people of color and First Nations communities in Canada.
