Dubai police arrests NLS leader for liquidations

WILLEMSTADThe police in today arrested the Curaçaoan Shurendy Quant. He is one of the leaders of the NLS, the Curaçao / Dutch gang that carried out the murder of Helmin Wiels in 2013.

The arrest was carried out by a special police unit at the request of the Public Prosecution Service of Sint Maarten.

Quant is suspected of ordering various liquidations, kidnapping, leading a criminal organization and money laundering. The offenses were committed in the various countries of the Kingdom and beyond.

Wanted

Quant has been wanted by the judiciary for quite some time. A year ago a joint investigation team started an investigation into him. This specially formed investigation team consisted of members of the police forces of Sint Maarten, Curaçao, Aruba and the Criminal Investigation Cooperation Team (RST).

It is headed by the OM Sint Maarten and the OM Curaçao. This intensive international police cooperation with various investigative services worldwide has today led to his arrest in Dubai

Although Quant did not reside in Curaçao or Sint Maarten, his influence remained undiminished in these countries. This is because of his supposedly worldwide criminal network. The OM in Curaçao is now going to request his extradition.
