Born in Rotterdam on June 30, 1942, Van Gorp became nationally known in the early 1970s when she performed together with Willem Nijholt in Wim Sonneveld’s theater shows. After a starring role in the musical A cannibal like you by Freek de Jonge and Bram Vermeulen, she first appeared in André van Duin’s revue in 1974. Besides Frans van Dusschoten, she was a well-known face in the popular revue company for years.
Later she played in André van Duin’s television and theater shows and had a number of major solo hits, including Soesafoon me, Be as slim as your daughter, Alie from the roadside assistance in I am a drummer.
With Van Duin she interpreted the well-known characters Mr. and Mrs. De Bok, with whom they made a television comeback together in 2009 in the weekly Dik Voormekaar Show.
Her last public appearances date from 2009. After that she withdrew from public life.
In 2018 in the Oude Luxor Theater in Rotterdam, in the foyer on the first floor, a showcase was decorated with the original clothing of the little character Mrs. De Bok, as a permanent tribute to Van Gorp.
