Cameron Wellington: Wrestler dies of corona at the age of only 19

Birmingham – The British professional wrestler was fit, healthy and only 19 years old. But Cameron Wellington has lost the fight against the corona virus. According to the parents of the deceased teenager, there were less than 48 hours between the positive test result and his death.

Last Tuesday, Wellington was diagnosed with Covid-19, reports the Daily Mail. At first he just had a cough and downplayed the infection. But the breathing problems got worse. His mother took the 19-year-old to the hospital on Wednesday evening.

The athlete’s condition rapidly deteriorated. One hour after the admission, Wellington’s mother Jane received a call from the clinic: The oxygen level had dropped to ten percent and her son would “probably not survive an hour”.

The young wrestler was transferred to the intensive care unit, supplied with oxygen and put into an artificial coma. He received dialysis, doctors operated on his lungs, and then he underwent heart surgery in a specialist clinic. The 19-year-old died a few hours after the last operation. His parents were with him, wearing a protective suit, gloves, mask and visor.

Mother Jane on BirminghamLive: “The whole situation is an enormous shock for us. Cam was overweight, but he was fit and otherwise healthy. ”He had had a“ steep career ”as a wrestler – and now everyone was shaken to“ take the virus seriously ”.
