The relatives of Alexia Fouillot are fixed. After six days of intense trial, the Vesoul Assize Court delivered its verdict: Jonathann Daval was convicted of murdering his wife. The jurors of this sordid case did not follow the indictment of the Advocate General and sentenced the computer scientist to a 25-year prison term. In the morning, Advocate General Emmanuel Dupic asked for life imprisonment before addressing the jurors to justify his indictment: “I appeal to your courage. Because of the media coverage of this case, this decision will be watched. You will obviously answer yes to both questions: it is the spouse who killed and there is the intention”. He also explained that, according to him, Jonathann Daval killed his wife because she wanted to leave him. In court, Jonathann Daval explained that he wanted to pay for Alexia’s murder. “It doesn’t matter how long the sentence is. I have to pay for my actions, … so there you go”, he blurted out.

Friday, November 20 in the evening, the civil parties demanded a “barely up to it” of “suffering” endured by the relatives of Alexia since her disappearance until the trial, pleaded one of their lawyers, Gilles-Jean Portejoie. He also referred to the multiple reversals of Jonathann Daval who had for a time implicated his in-laws, before accusing himself again. “This week has been very trying, I hope that this evening we will be relieved, that we can turn the page and rebuild ourselves a little after this trial, and think only of Alexia”, said Isabelle Fouillot, Alexia’s mother, a few hours before the verdict. In court, Jonathann Daval has repeatedly admitted to having killed his wife on the night of October 27 to 28, 2017, by punching her and then strangling her “so that she is silent”.

Three years after Alexia’s death

He claimed to have taken action because he had in him “anger, of all these years” : “The beatings, it happened, but most of the time it was verbal abuse. Hits that sometimes hurt me, kicks, kicks even at night when I kept him from sleeping. So times, I also made a separate room. “ PDuring his trial, he repeatedly asked his ex-in-laws for forgiveness. “I would first, maybe not the right word, to apologize, but it’s not excusable, to Alexia’s relatives for everything I have done. I took their daughter from them. , at first, after I lied to them, the story of the plot also destroyed your life, also destroyed the life of my family, to whom I also lied “, recognized Jonathann Daval, who will spend part of his life in prison. More than three years after the death of their daughter, their sister, their friend, the relatives of Alexia Fouillot are now fixed.
