Math teacher suspected of killing and eating lover in Berlin

German police arrested a math teacher suspected of killing his lover in Berlin. The victim’s bones, missing two months ago, lead authorities to suspect cannibalism.

The bones were found two weeks ago in a park north of Berlin, Germany. Experts identified the remains as belonging to Stefan T, who had been missing for two months.

“The bones were completely clean of meat,” says the German press. In addition, other indications have led authorities to suspect that Stean T, 44, was a victim of cannibalism.

The suspect in the crime is a math teacher, identified as Stefan R, 41. He has already been detained by the German police, who normally do not reveal the nicknames of victims or suspects while criminal investigations are ongoing.

The suspect, Stefan R, “visited relevant online chat rooms on the Internet,” German officials said. The German media compared the case to that of Armin Meiwes, a cannibal sentenced to life in 2006.

According to data revealed at the time, Meiwes met the victim in a “chat” of people interested in cannibalism. He filmed the murder of a 43-year-old man, whom he killed for sexual pleasure.

Stegfan T’s case is similar, with the authorities suspecting sexual motivation for the crime. An electrical engineer, the victim was last seen leaving the apartment on September 5, around midnight.

It was the housemates who alerted the authorities to the disappearance. More than two months later, Stefan T’s remains were found by hikers in a park in Buch, just outside Berlin, Germany.
