The funeral of Sindika Dokolo, husband of Angolan businesswoman Isabel dos Santos, took place this Tuesday in London, but the funeral ceremonies have also extended to the capitals of Angola and Congo. At London’s Westminster Cathedral, Isabel dos Santos asked God for strength so that Sindika Dokolo’s family and friends would overcome her death.

The daughter of the former president of Angola walked the central nave of the cathedral alone behind the coffin, to the sound of Avé Maria, for the celebration of the goodbye mass, where only the family closest to Dokolo, namely the widow, the children, joined and the brothers. It was during the ceremony that Isabel dos Santos, in a short religious intervention, also asked for the protection of her husband’s soul. The voice failed, but Isabel dos Santos always maintained her posture.

The couple’s daughter and sister also paid tribute to the entrepreneur and collector of natural art in Congo, who lost his life at the age of 48 on October 29, while diving in Dubai, due to a pulmonary embolism, according to the African press.

The funeral ceremonies were broadcast live on the Angolan television channel ZAP Viva, of which Sindika Dokolo was the founder and administrator. The channel’s tribute included musical moments and masses in Kinshasa, where Sindika was born, and in Luanda, where she met the “princess” of Angola, who was to become the mother of her four children.

The police ruled out any suspicion of a “criminal act” in the death.
