2-year-old girl dies after choking sausage in nursery

A two-year-old girl died after choking on a piece of sausage while having lunch at a nursery in the town of Radlett, England, last Thursday (12).

Despite being rushed to the pediatric ICU of a hospital in London, the country’s capital, Sadie Salt did not react to medical care and died on Saturday (14).

The emergency services were promptly called when Sadie had a cardiac arrest due to choking.

According to the local Borehamwood Times, paramedics enlisted the help of an air ambulance to take the child to St Mary’s Hospital in London. Even so, efforts were not enough to save the girl’s life, who was declared dead after two days in the ICU.

Sadie was the youngest of the family, leaving behind two brothers aged seven and ten.

The girl’s parents, Adam and Zoe, thanked the doctors for their “incredible” work and created a fundraising page, in “loving memory of their Princess Sadie”, to support COSMIC, a charity that supports children in the state critical.

The moving story has already attracted 35,000 pounds, about R $ 250,000, in two days of donation.

“We are in terrible pain as we suffer the premature loss of our daughter and sister, yet the overwhelming love support of all of you was overwhelming. Family friends Darren Ruback and Claire Nicole also moved in and launched a petition to ban grapes and sausages in nurseries.

“We are fully aware that accidents happen, but we can also take measures to prevent these accidents from occurring,” wrote friends, dismayed by the loss of the child.

According to them, “sausages are known for their clumsy shape and tough skin, which makes chewing even more difficult for young children”.
