Disgruntled gamers have taken advantage of social media after online pre-orders for the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 sold out within hours.
JB Hi-Fi website crashed while Big W backtracked on its promise to offer more pre-orders for the PS5 console.
Potential customers also expressed frustration with Harvey Norman and The Gamesmen, who also offered the product.
JB Hi-Fi announced on Facebook that traffic from launching PS5 pre-orders was causing technical problems on the retailer’s website.
“Due to the PS5 pre-order launch and overwhelming traffic, the JB website is experiencing some technical issues,” wrote JB Hi-Fi.
“We thank you for your patience in solving these issues and will provide an update as soon as the issues are resolved.”
Online pre-orders for the console were posted on the JB Hi Fi website at 11 a.m. AEDT Thursday.
A number of players wrote their dismay at technical issues in the comments on the JB Hi-Fi post.
“I say it’s sold out now,” said one person.
“Although then I wouldn’t enter the delivery address for hours. Biggest waste of time ever. “
Another claimed they lost their PS5 “because your website didn’t let me go beyond delivery options.”

Big W buyers faced a major shock Thursday after being told earlier this week they could pre-order PS5.
The retailer’s website revealed that customers will now have to wait a few more weeks to order their consoles.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances we cannot offer our customers any additional pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 console on November 12th,” says the website.
“Please keep an eye on Bigw.com in the coming weeks for more information.”
The link for PS5s on The Gamesmen’s website also returned an error on Thursday afternoon.
“Already sold out? We managed to get through to find out that there are no products, ”wrote one person on Facebook.
“Are there still any in stock? I have one in my cart but I have to pay for a part and it keeps going to the error page! “Another added.

The mother of a frustrated gamer also visited Harvey Norman’s social media page to express her frustration at not being able to secure one for herself.
“Harvey Norman I’ve been sitting at my computer since 8:30 am on December 11th, 2020 for the new PS5 console that came out. I’ve been trying to get the PS5 digital console all day and I couldn’t buy it from your website, ”she said.
“So I thought I was going to buy the other PS5 for $ 749 for my son, and I told myself (sic) it was put in my cart when I tried to pay for it. Your website is down.
“Now I can’t get into my basket to pay for it. I’m not happy about it, my son wants one of them. “
