Italy recorded 22,253 new contagions of covid-19 and 233 deaths in the last 24 hours, announced the Italian authorities, who are expected to confirm new restrictions to combat the pandemic today.
The reduction in new positive cases has been normal on Mondays, since fewer tests are carried out on Sunday – in the last 24 hours, 235,000 tests have been carried out, against 183,000 on Saturday.
In total, since the beginning of the pandemic in mid-February, Italy has registered 731,588 cases of contamination with the new coronavirus, with 39,059 deaths.
Hospital pressure in the country continues to increase, and of the current 296,512 patients, 21,862 are hospitalized (1,021 more than Sunday) and 2,022 are hospitalized in intensive care units (83 more).

In a conversation with representatives of the foreign press in Italy, Crisanti admitted that one could arrive at Christmas with “a low level of contacts”, although he stressed that, without an active surveillance system and without solutions to consolidate it, the numbers could return to increase.
“Now, containment measures are the most important thing to stop the spread and consolidate it. Then, a new general confinement of three to six weeks should be defined to be able to lower the new cases. No surveillance system can work with a very large number of contagions ”, he defended.

The UK has recorded 136 deaths from covid-19 in the last 24 hours and 18,950 new infections, the British Ministry of Health announced today, as Britain is preparing to enter confinement.

Due to the system of decentralized governments, confinement applies only in England, but the autonomous governments of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have also imposed strict restrictions.
Wales and Northern Ireland are in confinement until 9 and 13 November, respectively, while Scotland is evaluating this hypothesis, despite having introduced a system of five levels of restrictions today.
