The National Scholarship and Educational Loan Program (Pronabec) of the Ministry of Education will open the registration to Women in Science Scholarship contest, which will take place on November 6.

The inscription is virtual and free through the contest website and ends on December 10 at 3.00 pm On December 28, the Pronabec will publish the lists of shortlisted young women, who will be able to participate in the application stage for the scholarship in 2021.
Through this program 150 comprehensive scholarships will be awarded to women with high academic performance who start their university studies in the academic semester 2021-I or 2021-II, in accordance with the bases published at www.pronabec.gob.pe/beca-mujeres-ciencias-2020.
For the winners, the Peruvian State will cover from the university academic costs to their maintenance. The process has two stages. The first, which is the preliminary, will allow the preselection of the contestants and will take place from November to December 2020. Only the preselected will go to the second stage of postulation, which will run from January to April 2021.
The requirements to register for the contest (preliminary stage) are the following:

– Take the fifth grade of secondary school in Regular Basic Education (EBR) or the last grade of Alternative Basic Education (EBA) in 2020.
– Accredit high academic performance in the third and fourth year of secondary EBR or its equivalent in EBA, fulfilling the following requirements in each of those years:
a) To be in the upper tenth.
b) Be within the top 5 in math and science and technology courses.
– Students from private schools must prove a condition of poverty or extreme poverty, according to the Household Targeting System (Sisfoh) of the Midis.
Additional score
Those applicants who prove the following priority conditions will receive an additional score in the preliminary stage: poverty or extreme poverty; have obtained the first, second or third place in the National Stage in a National Educational Contest or have participated as a National Representative in an International Educational Contest between the years 2015 and 2019, have obtained the first, second or third place in the National Stage of a National School Sports Game, between the years 2015 and 2019.
Those who prove that they study with the areas of the Vraem or Huallaga area will also receive the extra points; appear in the registry of victims of violence from the years 1980 – 2000, disability, belonging to Amazonian native communities, peasant farmers or Afro-Peruvian populations, being daughters of firefighters; or volunteer.
