Authorization for the purchase of Remdesivir was published in “Diário da República”. It foresees the acquisition of one hundred thousand bottles to treat covid-19 and this year expenses up to 20 million euros.

According to the resolution of the Council of Ministers now published, the purchase of the medicine is authorized up to a maximum amount of 35,376,645 euros, and the expenses with the expenditure cannot exceed 19,458,000 euros in 2020 and 15,918,645 euros in the next year.
The resolution recalls that the European Commission signed on October 7, on behalf of all the countries of the European Union, “a framework contract for joint acquisitions” with the pharmaceutical group Gilead Sciences for the supply of Remdesivir treatment doses, the first medicine authorized in the Union for covid-19.
