Gardai, who is investigating the horrific deaths of a mother and her two children in their family home, now says they were murdered.

Postmortems with Seema Banu (37), Asfira Riza (11) and six-year-old Faizan Syed were completed yesterday. Sources said all three were strangled.

Their bodies were found Wednesday in their rented house on a quiet residential street in Llewellyn Court, Ballinteer, south Dublin.

A Garda spokesman said: “After the post-mortem investigations were completed, Gardai of Dundrum Garda Railway Station opened a homicide investigation to investigate the circumstances surrounding the events in a residential building on Llewellyn Court in Ballinteer.”

The officers continued to interview witnesses and search the CCTV footage, but no arrests were made.

A man, accompanied by a lawyer, has presented himself at a Lake Garda station and helps with inquiries.

Seema moved here from their native India with the children and husband Sameer Syed (36) in February. They had lived in for a while before Sameer got a job here. Seema’s cousin told RTE News that she and her children are terribly missed.

Sufi Masood added, “She always spoke to everyone and made sure they were doing well in life.

“Even though she was in Ireland, she talked to us the whole time.

“The children are very nice and spent most of the time with grandma.

“When they were here, they went to places and played with the children. We miss her very much. ”

The crime scene in Llewelyn Court remains cordoned off. Seema and her family originally came from remote Mysore in southern India.

Your loved ones are asking the Irish government to help them bring their bodies home – it could cost 18,000 euros. Sufi said, “We would be grateful for our lives if you could send our loved ones back to our family so that we can see them one last time.”

Neighbors have been in shock since Wednesday when the details of the tragic deaths emerged.

The alarm went off after the family had not been seen for several days.

Armed officers broke into the house to find Seema in a bedroom with a ligature around her neck.

Her children were found dead in another room.

Sources said all three showed signs of strangulation. Faucets had been installed in one bathroom, flooding the house and damaging the floor.

Seema’s husband and the children’s father were not home when Gardai made the discovery.

Officials had contacted Mr Syed, who is in Ireland on a work visa, by Wednesday evening.

The Indian embassy here contacted Seema’s mother and brother. There was massive sympathy for the children and their mother.
