Melania Trump faces new “false Melania” claims

The footage in question shows Melania, who has often been the target of bizarre rumors that she uses similar body doubles to stand up for them at some public events and kisses her husband on stage during the rally.

The couple’s faces are partially blocked by a teleprompter, but as the clip continues, Melania moves back into the frame, her face partially covered in large dark sunglasses:

A photo shared online earlier this week sparked a similar guess as to whether or not viewers saw the “real” Melania: The photo taken on October 22 showed Melania again in large dark sunglasses on board Marine One on the south lawn of the White House in Washington with her husband.

Conspiracy theories claiming Trump used body doubles to stand up for his wife have been around for years, despite being widely debunked. As early as 2018, some were convinced that this was a “fake Melania” leaving Air Force One:

The double rumors about the first lady’s body went viral back in October 2017 after actress and comedian Andrea Wagner Barton posted her theory on Facebook.

And Melania isn’t the only US politician accused of using bait.

In 2016, there were allegations that Hillary Clinton had been replaced with a body double after she collapsed after fighting pneumonia at a 9/11 memorial service in New York.
