In Lyon, it is said to be a man of Afghan descent, born in 1994, who was known to the intelligence services. He was wearing a djellaba and a military jacket and was swinging a knife around. Several phone calls came in to the emergency services, according to the French newspaper, after which the police went to the scene and arrested the man. The news is confirmed on Twitter by Pierre Oliver, mayor of Lyon’s second arrondissement.
A man with a knife was also arrested in Sartrouville, a municipality near the French capital. He was close to the Saint-Martin church. It was his father who informed the police.
