Cork Shooting: Mother of a Family in “Murder-Suicide” Escaped and Runs...

The mother of a family killed in an alleged suicide ran to a friend’s house to sound the alarm after the horrific triple shootout.

Mother Ann is believed to have no cell phone and therefore ran to a neighbor around 6:30 am during the dispute between her husband and two sons on the farm in Kanturk, North Cork.

The mother, who is believed to be in her 60s and struggling with an ongoing health problem, escaped from the estate and ran “a little way” for help.

Gardai [Irish Police] were alerted yesterday morning that three men were in the house and one may have been gunshot wounds.

The tragedy ultimately claimed the lives of Timothy ‘Tadhg’ O’Sullivan (59) and his sons Mark (25) and Diarmuid (23).

A son’s body was reportedly found in a bedroom in the house, while the father and the other son were found on adjacent land.

All three had been fatally shot.

CorkBeo reports that her death was linked to a disagreement over family heritage.

Local sources have told CorkBeo that the family has already been exposed to severe stress due to a serious illness affecting a family member.

It is believed that Gardai was aware of legally held firearms in the house, which is relatively isolated and surrounded by land popular with local gun clubs.

Councilor John Paul O’Shea said, “Everyone is deeply saddened and shocked by this tragedy.

“My thoughts are with the family and the wider Castlemagner and Kanturk community as they grapple with this unimaginable loss.

“There is a strong and determined community spirit in Castlemagner, and the community there that I know of will gather around their families, neighbors and friends in the days ahead as they cope with this tragic loss.”

The younger son is believed to have only recently returned to the family home.

Two rifles and a shotgun were found at the scene and are being investigated by investigators.

A Garda spokesman said: “Both locations have been declared crime scenes and An Garda Síochána has launched a full investigation into all the circumstances of the incident under the direction of a senior investigator.

“The state pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau have been contacted and are on their way to both scenes.

“In Kanturk, a family liaison officer has been appointed and an incident room has been set up.

“A Garda Síochána is currently not looking for other people in connection with this incident.

“A Garda Síochána appeals to anyone who has information that may be helpful in investigating the incidents that occurred this morning to contact the Garda Investigative Service at Mallow Garda Station 022 31450 on the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or to a Garda station. “”
