Police are taking unprecedented measures to contain the escalating gang war...

More than 20 people were banned from traveling to certain parts of Sydney for fear of escalating tensions between two families.

NSW Criminal Investigations target some members of the Hamzy and Alameddine families to prevent an all-out gang war after a spate of shootings and a knife wrench in prison.

Strike Force Courier was formed to investigate his murder.

Mr. Hamzy is the older brother of the criminal gang Brothers 4 Life founder and convicted killer Bassam Hamzywho is currently incarcerated in Goulburn’s Supermax prison.

Another Hamzy home has been targeted in recent weeks, as has Rafat Alameddine’s home in Fairfield.

There was also a street brawl in which members of both groups participated.

There is no evidence that members of the Alameddine family were involved in the murder of Mr. Hamzy or that members of the Hamzy family were involved in the shooting of Rafat Alameddine’s home.

Today, Strike Force Raptor detectives carried out search warrants for crime scenes on the Simmat Avenue property, as well as a unit in Condell Park and a house in Fairfield.

Over the weekend, NSW police issued a public safety order to 22 people from both families preventing them from traveling to certain suburbs.

These were in place for 72 hours and have expired since then. The officers are now leading the fight to the Supreme Court for orders to prevent serious crimes.

These restrict access to cell phones and give the police the power to monitor bank accounts.

Crime Squad Chief Detective Superintendent Robert Critchlow said, “Anyone involved in these shootings or other violent activities should expect to be arrested.

“The attention of the police will not stop, we have people dying on the streets, we are tired of it.

“We will use every weapon available to us in the law … to stop this behavior,” he said.

Some members of the Hamzy family have long and bloody history books.

Before the recent shootings and knife wounds last week, Brothers for Life founder Bassam Hamzy was jailed for murder and is in Goulburn’s Supermax Prison.

His cousin Mohammed is in custody after he was convicted of the manslaughter of another gang member who was shot to death in Greenacre in 2012.

Mohammed was the intended target of a hit in Revesby in October 2013, but in one false identity case, his cousin Mahmoud Hamzy was shot dead.

Aunt Maha Hamzy also escaped death after she was shot in the legs at her Auburn home in 2013.

The same townhouse was the target of a drive-by shooting last Saturday night.
