Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, issued a decision to stop all human activities in the vicinity of the “Shark Reef” diving accident in the Ras Mohammed reserve, after 3 people, including tourists, were attacked by a shark while practicing surface swimming.
Fouad’s decision came in accordance with what is followed internationally in cases of shark attacks on humans, and it is a precautionary measure to ensure that the attack on other people does not recur during the days following the accident.
The Ministry of Environment confirmed, in a press release, that the working team concerned with investigating the circumstances of the accident is still completing its work tasks to accurately determine the causes of the behaviors that resulted from the shark that caused the accident towards the injured.
