The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), said today that he defends the distribution of CoronaVac, vaccine against covid-19 developed by the Chinese laboratory Sinovac in partnership with the Butantan Institute, for all Brazilians if it is approved by Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency). Maia participated in a press conference with the governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes.

The deputy said that the moment is for dialogue between all parties and informed that he received contacts from other deputies who support the national distribution of the immunizer. Doria, at the end of the press conference, said he was “open to dialogue”.

This week, CoronaVac’s distribution was at the center of a new clash between President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) and the governor of São Paulo. Behind the scenes, the comment that the race for the covid-19 vaccine gained the air of an electoral race gains strength.

The call for dialogue marked Maia’s demonstrations during the interview. He went so far as to call Doria an “ally” and “friend”, but said that that does not mean that he is “against the federal government”. The deputy avoided criticizing Bolsonaro and said that his mission will be to seek the best understanding between the parties.

Bolsonaro repeated that the vaccine is Chinese and has not yet been approved by Anvisa.
