Covid-19 in Portugal. Day of national mourning on November 2

This Thursday, the Council of Ministers declared November 2 as National Day of Mourning in memory of the victims of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The announcement was made by the Minister of State and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Mariana Vieira da Silva, who explained that the Government recognizes that “there is a need to mark the mourning” and, therefore, the day will serve to “pay tribute to all the deceased, and in particular the victims of the Covid-19 pandemic. “

The government decision also follows the ban on circulation between municipalities from October 30 to November 3, which includes the Day of the Dead, traditionally in honor of the dead in various cemeteries across the country.

In addition to the limitation of movement between municipalities in the mainland, the municipalities of Felgueiras, Lousada and Paços de Ferreira are also subject to more restrictive measures as of 00:00 on Friday, October 23.

Special measures will be adopted, such as the duty to remain at home, with the exception of some locations and the prohibition of any events with more than five people.

Mandatory teleworking becomes mandatory in these municipalities and there will be a suspension of visits to homes and operation of day centers.
