Buckle up for “an exciting new discovery about the moon”. NASA teased an upcoming conference call to share new scientific findings from their Stratospheric Infrared Astronomy Observatory (Sofia), an aircraft equipped with a telescope.

“This new discovery adds to NASA’s efforts to learn about the moon in support of space exploration,” the agency said in a statement on Wednesday.

The messages are expected to match that Artemis program, which aims to bring people back to the moon in 2024 while developing a lunar presence as a stepping stone to the more distant goal of Mars.

NASA isn’t giving out many details about the announcement, but you will be able to access a live audio broadcast of the media conference call on the NASA Live website on Monday, October 26th at 9:00 a.m. local time.

Sofia is a high-flying, bespoke 747 aircraft. “SOFIA flies over 99% of the atmosphere’s opaque water vapor and observes in infrared wavelengths and can pick up phenomena that cannot be seen with visible light,” NASA said.
