Chelsea coach Frank Lampard praised his defender Thiago Silva, after a goalless draw with Sevilla in the Champions League.

Lampard said at the post-match conference: “I think it was very, very good. I talked about quality and experience before the match and he brought us both.”

“As Silva gives us clean nets, I want to deal with him more closely, even if we need to have an interpreter between us,” he added.

He continued, “I will work near him and remember myself in my last season in the English Premier League, especially in training and choosing the matches with which to start. We want him to participate in the largest number of matches possible.”

Regarding the tie, he continued, “I think it is a positive result. Last season we lost the first match which put pressure on us in the group, so I understand the importance of the match against an opponent of that quality.”

And he added, “I know that playing in matches and without training well, the Southampton match shocked us, and I think we were positive against Seville as one of the best European teams, and I have no doubt about that.”

Chelsea are preparing to face Manchester United in the sixth round of the English Premier League, and then they will face Russian Krasnodar in the second round of the Champions League.
