This Tuesday’s bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health records more than 1,876 cases of covid-19, 15 deaths and 1,932 cured in Portugal (data for Monday). In total, there are now 103,736 confirmed cases, 2,213 fatalities and 61,898 recovered.
The number of active cases is 39,625, 71 less than on Monday, due to the fact that the number of recovered patients is greater than the sum of newly infected and deaths. This has not happened since August 15 (-16).
Infections confirmed in the last 24 hours are lower than on Monday (73 fewer people) and, for the third consecutive day, are below 2,000 cases, which happened between Wednesday and Saturday. The growth rate of new cases compared to the previous day is 1.84%.
There are two fewer deaths (15) than the day before (17), but it is still slightly above the average of the last seven days (14.7) and well above that of the last 30 days (10).
The number of recovered people is the highest in almost five months, since 9,844 cured on May 24, the result of a large-scale statistical update by the DGS. However, on Saturday a close figure had already been recorded (1,853). The growth rate in 24 hours is 3.22%.
There are 63 more people hospitalized in Portuguese hospitals, bringing the total to 1,237. You have to go back until April 19 to see a higher figure: 1,243 inpatients. Portugal is having 65 hospitalizations at the peak of the pandemic, which took place in this segment on April 16, when there were 1,302 hospitalized patients.
As for the Intensive Care Units, there are 11 more beds occupied, which becomes the biggest increase since April 16, when 21 patients entered the ICU. In the middle, on October 8, there was a value equal to this Tuesday: 11.

Already 12.8% of new cases concern children and young people up to 19 years old, while the outline of active population (20-59 years old) translates into 65.6% of new daily cases, that is, 1,230 new cases infection.
