Rabbi Kanievsky ordered the opening of the Talmud Torah tomorrow

The ultra-Orthodox revolt: The leader of the Lithuanian current, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, ordered tonight (Saturday) to open the ultra-Orthodox educational institutions starting tomorrow – despite the sweeping ban on opening schools. These are white educational institutions from first to eighth grade, most of which are located in the red cities.

Kanievsky’s statement comes in response to a failure in negotiations between the authorities and the ultra-Orthodox representatives, who did not reach an agreement. It is estimated that there are hundreds of thousands of students who will return to Torah studies tomorrow. This coming Monday, Sunday in Cheshvan, is also the opening of winter time in the yeshivot. Following the leader’s decision, they too are expected to open. Shortly after Rabbi Kanievsky’s order, the head of the Shas Council of Torah Scholars, Rabbi Shalom Cohen, ordered not to open Shas Talmud Torah. A similar announcement was made by Gur storks.

“Please note, this is not a routine outing – these are the reliefs,” Gamzo clarified. “Please reduce meetings even if they are allowed, refrain from meetings in enclosed spaces, observe the restrictions. Nature parties, weddings and gatherings are strictly forbidden. There are no compromises. They will take us back quickly if we are not careful. Remember – many of us are unemployed, not earning a living. The patients are still 700 serious patients – I want to cooperate and be tested more. “

At the beginning of last week, Rabbi Kanievsky, who himself became infected with Corona, ordered senior members of the ultra-Orthodox educational institutions to open the Talmud Torah. But a little later, he reversed his decision – and decided to leave the Talmud Torah closed, that is – after Rabbi Edelstein, one of the top rabbis in the Lithuanian public, ordered not to open them.
