Police forces in the states of Baden-Wurttemberg and Bavaria in southern Germany have taken security measures against a group reported to have simulated military operations while wearing army uniforms, and by using prohibited weapons.

Police and the Public Prosecution Office in the two states announced that about 400 policemen, including members of the Special Forces, on Thursday searched 17 residences and part of a nearby forest, looking for evidence.

The two sides said that 19 people are being investigated on suspicion of violating the law prohibiting the acquisition of war weapons.

Police and public prosecutors stated that the arrested men and women, between the ages of 27 and 77, did not have permits to hold meetings or carry these weapons.

The investigation authorities confiscated computers and a variety of weapons, ammunition, spare parts, military uniforms, cars, and various symbols, all of which are in violation of the constitution.

Explosives experts checked the seized bombs, and two ignition capsules were detonated safely and under control.

It was necessary to use trucks to transport the weapons found during the operations in the departments of Esslingen, Szeggmarenchen and Reims Moore.

Police said that the investigation began after a report received by the authorities about a group of armed men appearing in army uniforms meeting in a building in the district of Bebrach.
