Challenged, 15-year-old sets his school on fire

Laval police arrested a 15-year-old student for arson after the latter set his school on fire Thursday.

It all started on Instagram. Young people, who now attend school every other day due to the COVID-19 pandemic, now form two clans. And each of them challenges the other.

“They’re called the odd gang versus the even-numbered gang. They go to war like that, to find out who will do the biggest damage in their day, ”explains Linda Brassard, the mother of a student.

On Wednesday, a first fire broke out in the toilets of Curé-Antoine-Labelle high school in Laval. On Thursday, another fire left 3 people injured and some $ 80,000 in damage. That same day, young people would also have spread disinfectant on the stairs.

One of the school teachers tripped and was seriously injured. The scene was captured by one of the students, who then posted it on social media. “There are those who laughed at that,” laments Ms. Brassard, who says he saw the video.

Despite everything, young people do not seem to want to slow down, on the contrary.

“YO, the odd group has a point, we will not let it go … tomorrow it’s dynamite which is given”: here is one of the messages that can be read on a screenshot obtained by TVA Nouvelles. The mother fears the worst and has chosen to write to management to inform her of the situation.

“I don’t feel like sending my boy here on Monday. I do not believe that everything is settled by magic. It’s impossible, it’s too big, ”she insists.

The management of the establishment told her that it would be vigilant in the face of this threat. The director also addressed the students on Friday to warn them of the consequences of their actions and meetings also took place in class with the teachers.

On the side of the school board, we claim to have control of the situation.
