LATEST FIGURES
At the national level, the daily report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported this Wednesday that the confirmed cases of COVID-19 reached 856,951, after detecting another 1,219 infected in the last 24 hours.
However, of that total, 759,597 people have already been discharged from a medical center or completed their home quarantine, while the deceased amounted to 33,512, adding 93 deaths since the previous report.
Thus, in Peru there are currently 63,842 active cases of the disease, of which 6,237 are hospitalized and 1,163 of them in intensive care units (ICU) with mechanical ventilation.
EXHORTATION OF THE PRESIDENT
Despite the positive figures, the president of Peru, Martín Vizcarra, asked citizens not to neglect health security measures to avoid a second wave of the disease, similar to that reported in Europe.
“We know that the data that the Minister of Health gives us is of a decline and decrease of infected, hospitalized, people in ICU and deaths in recent weeks and we see that in other countries that curve has begun to increase, a second wave because they trusted. In fact, the head of EsSalud’s Intelligence and Data Analysis Unit pointed out that the districts of Barranco, Pueblo Libre and Villa El Salvador are the new “hot spots” for the disease in Lima.
Specialists are concerned that this increase in cases occurs in districts with a larger population, such as Villa El Salvador, because that would lead to the virus spreading “more rapidly.”
“It was warned that the beaches could be a new source of contagion and that is how a series of measures began to be activated. We see a proactive attitude on the part of the local authorities ”, highlighted Cersso.
