Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates believes that “autumn is going to be worse than summer” in terms of incidence of the covid-19 pandemic.

During an interview on the Politico Playbook program, the American billionaire was pessimistic when asked about the measures the government should take to “correct the course” of the health crisis.

“All the numbers are going up, and there is always a high possibility that as it gets colder and more people are in the houses, we will see more transmission,” Gates explained.

He also commented that until the United States has developed antibodies and a vaccine and begins to actively distribute them, probably in the first half of 2021, “all we have is our behavior”, including face masks and social distancing. In this sense, the tycoon admitted that the use of masks is “quite poor.”

Several states, particularly in the Midwest and South, have reported record levels of COVID-19 cases and some have recorded high death figures relative to the spring and summer months.

Gates also opined that, historically, there has been a dangerous skepticism about vaccinesSo communities often look to leaders they can trust to determine whether or not they will receive a vaccine for a specific virus.

“What I would like to see here is, where are we not achieving compliance, and who are the leaders they are looking for? Political leaders, religious leaders, scientific leaders, and get that message out,” he said.

The United States is looking at six potential vaccines, two of which have entered phase 3 trials.
