CORONAVIRUS The pandemic in the Gard and the region in graphics...

Since last March, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Occitanie has regularly communicated the figures of the pandemic in the region and in our department.

Figures that Objectif Gard has compiled in order to put them into perspective using graphics. These tools allow us to better understand where we are with this pandemic which, according to the latest figures available, caused the death of 116 people in health establishments in our department.

We have taken and updated the first graph that we began to offer you during containment. This graph compiles the data communicated by the ARS on current hospitalizations, the number of patients in intensive care and the number of deaths.

And these data are still worrying this week: in the Gard, the number of hospitalizations continues to increase, which began in early September, from 82 to 91 people over the last seven days (the latest figures date from yesterday). Now, this value has returned to the level of that of May 11, the day of deconfinement.

Ditto for the number of patients placed in intensive care in our department, which has increased from 22 to 27 patients over the last seven days. Here too, we have to go back to early May to find similar values. Finally, the last curve, that of deaths in health establishments, is also increasing, with six additional deaths in one week (116 against 110).

Regionally this time, the number of new cases is on the rise again, and not just a little: after a decline last week, even if the level remained high, the last seven days show a very rapid growth again of cases detected in Occitania. For the first time, this value even exceeds 10,000 cases over seven days (10,956 cases), or 1,565 new cases per day on average in our region. A week ago, the number of new cases was 7,572.

Finally, the last graph, that of the number of tests carried out each week in the regions, and the proportion of these tests which is positive. The number of tests communicated was, again Friday, about 120,000 per week in the regions. This figure did not appear on the last ARS bulletin on Tuesday, we left this value at 120,000 for reasons of readability. Still, the proportion of these tests that turns out to be positive is increasing, and for the first time passed the 10% mark, with 11.4% of positive tests over the last seven days. This value was 7.8% last week.

The trend now seems to be firmly established on the rise in our department and our region, with indicators all showing red on the front of the covid-19 pandemic.
