The family had just been to a nearby KFC and was going home when the tragedy occurred.

After reports of a crash just before 7pm yesterday, police rushed to the scene in Hayes, west London.

The boy received local treatment before being rushed to a central London hospital. He died this morning.

His parents were too upset to speak, but a relative said, “It’s a very sad time, they don’t want to say anything at the moment, we’re all so sad, it’s so terrible that something happened.

He added, “It’s a 40 mile limit on this road, but so many cars are going way too fast, often much faster than the speed limit. It really has to be stopped, otherwise more children will be killed. ”

The driver stopped at the scene and supported the police in their investigations.

Officials are now appealing to witnesses and dash cam footage.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Officers were called at 6:57 pm on Sunday to report a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Uxbridge Road, UB4.

“Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance were also on site.

“The pedestrian, a four-year-old boy, received treatment on site before being taken to a central London hospital.

“Despite all the efforts of the medical professionals, he died there in the early morning hours of Monday. His family is aware of this.
