The UAE ministry of Health recorded 479 new coronavirus cases after carrying out 45,000 tests in the past day.

Health authorities reported two deaths, raising the UAE death toll to 286. Recoveries continue to rise with 1,217 patients being cleared of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

A leading health expert said deaths in the US will continue to rise if drastic action is not taken as coronavirus cases in the country passed the grim milestone of two million.

'Even if we don't have increasing cases, even if we keep things flat, it's reasonable to expect that we're going to hit 200,000 deaths sometime during the month of September," Ashish Jha, the head of Harvard's Global Health Institute said.

Globally, coronavirus cases reached 7.3 million on Thursday, with 3.4 million recoveries and 416,116 deaths.
