Brittanya Karma was only 29: Hamburg rapper dies of Corona

Brittanya Karma lies in a Hamburg hospital with Covid-19 for weeks. From bed, she sends out social media warnings to anyone who doesn’t take the coronavirus seriously enough. Now the Vietnamese-German rapper has died at the age of 29.
Just last week, Brittanya Karma sent greetings from her hospital bed. In the photo she is connected to a ventilator. She wrote about the photo: “I still fight every day.” Now the rapper, whose real name was Nguyen Tran Phuong Linh, has died. She was only 29 years old.

Karma died in a Hamburg hospital after being infected with the coronavirus and seriously ill with Covid-19. The Vietnamese portal “Zing News” first reported her death.

The German journalist Vanessa Vu was one of the first to respond to the report. “Brittanya Karma died of Covid-19, a Vietnamese rapper from Hamburg, the big stages were only a matter of time. 29 years old, newly engaged, full of energy. That is far too blatant”,

. In the meantime, family members have also confirmed the young woman’s death.

“Corona should be taken more seriously”

“I’ve been in so much pain,” wrote Brittany Karma on Instagram under another photo of her wearing an oxygen mask. She was unable to eat or sleep for five days. “Corona should be taken more seriously. Please take care of yourselves,” the text continued. “I know God does not make me the most beautiful or smartest woman in the world, but one of the strongest who has made everyone in the world laugh so far. (…) I will get through this with God’s help.”

Karma was also popular with her 250,000 Instagram followers and fans because she campaigned against false social norms and prejudices. “Every person in this world is unique. Stop judging others and talking badly about them. Eat what you like and do what you want to do,” she said last year in an interview with the Canadian “Culture” – Magazine. Two years ago she took part in the Vietnamese edition of “The Bachelor” to draw attention to false ideals of beauty. Her songs were also often about self-respect and pride.
