Ellen Page comes out as transsexual

HHollywood star Ellen Page has come out as a transsexual man. On Twitter, Page announced that her new name was Elliot Page and that she will use the pronouns “he / they” in the future. That corresponds to the German “Er”.

In the quite long statement, Page, in addition to the joy of the new identity and authenticity, mainly addresses the precarious situation of many transsexual people: “My joy is real, but it is also fragile.” Page had – despite the privileged position as a star – Afraid of the hatred, the jokes and also the violence.

The political actors who would work against the health rights of transgender people would have “blood on their hands”. Page wants to stand up against this: “I will offer every possible support and continue to work for a more loving and equal society.” Page is now affected by the situation himself and does not want to remain silent in the face of the attacks.

Page had already announced that he was a lesbian six years ago. In 2018 she married partner Emma Portner, with whom she has been in a relationship since 2014.

Previously, Page was known for productions like “X-Men”, “Juno” and “Inception”. Since 2019, Page has also played one of the leading roles in the Netflix series “The Umbrella Academy”.
