Matthew McConaughey and Shawn Mendes are friends? Here is how.

When it comes to unlikely celebrity friendships, this one has a pretty high priority.

Did you know that the 51-year-old actor Matthew McConaughey is friends with 22 year old singer Shawn Mendes? Sounds pretty weird, doesn’t it?

McConaughey’s new autobiography, Greenlights.

And in an interview this week with ANDThe Oscar winner reveals that the couple have been friendly for a while.

“He’s a good young man,” McConaughey told the interviewer. “He reached out to me a while ago and he and I have stayed in touch and will continue to do so.”

“I know my kids have seen him and know his music and so on,” he said. McConaughey has three children: Levi (12), Vida 10 and Livingston (7) with his wife Camila Alves.

Then he explained how excited his children were when they found out their father had done it the Shawn Mendes ‚Phone Number.

“They said, ‘You have his number? !! ‘ And I said, “Do you want to call him?” He remembered with a laugh.

But he said that his children were hit a little by the star and replied: “No, no, not yet, I have to think about what to say!”

After sharing this sweet moment, McConaughey went on to say that this book he wrote is the most beautiful work of art he has put out.

The autobiography, published last month, is the story of the actor’s life so far and all that he has learned from it.
